Preparing your skin for makeup assists in making your makeup application look radiant, flawless and most importantly keeps your skin clean.
We know that everyday makeup application is not that pleasant to our skin and this is because of the ingredients in the various makeup products and brands we purchase, often resulting in irritation, dry and flaky skin. Making sure your skin is clean and moisturized is very important for keeping the skin young and glowing, and that is where skin prep comes in. The following skin prep routine is a simple step-by-step that can be substituted with products you favour for your skin.
1. Wash your face
Regardless of your skin type, avoid washing your face with harsh cleansers that leave your skin completely dry. Rinse skin with luke-warm water.
Exfoliation is very important as it helps remove dead skin cells and reveals a clean and smoother surface for your makeup application. Exfoliators with granules are best.
3. Apply toner
Applying toner removes the remaining traces of dirt and impurities, leaving your skin with added moisture. Apply the toner using a cotton pad.
Just a small amount and gently apply to your skin, do not overdo the moisturiser.
5. Spray a mist of rosewater (optional)
This step is optional. Rosewater assists in helping the skin absorb moisture. Just a spritz 30cm away from the face with eyes closed will do.
6. Allow moisture to be absorbed
Wait for 3-5 minutes for the moisture to be absorbed into the skin. Doing this will avoid the thinking and blotchiness of your application, think about it makeup will not stick on oily and slippery surface.
- Never sleep with makeup on.
- Use hypoallergenic makeup for all skin types, especially sensitive skin.
- Stay away from cleansers containing fragrances and alcohol in them.
